摘要
Instrongsolarlight,siliconsolarpanelscanheatupby70℃and,thereby,looseapproximatelyonethirdoftheirefficiencyforelectricitygeneration.Leafstructuresofplantsontheotherhand,havedevelopedaseriesoftechnologicaladaptations,whichallowthemtolimittheirtemperatureto40-45℃infullsunlight,evenifwaterevaporationissuppressed.Thisisaccomplishedbyseveralstrategiessuchaslimitationofleafsize,optimizationofaerodynamicsinwind,limitationofabsorbedsolarenergyonlytotheusefulfractionofradiationandbyefficientthermalemission.Opticalandinfraredthermographicmeasurementsunderasolarsimulatorandinastreamingchannelwereusedtoinvestigatethecorrespondingpropertiesofleavesandtoidentifysuitablebionicmodelsystems.ExperimentsstartedwiththeserratedstructureofordinarygreenleavesdistributedovertypicaltwigstructuresandfinallyidentifiedtheAustralianpalmtreeLicualaramsayiasamoreusefulbionicmodel.Itcombinesalargeareaforsolarenergyharvestingwithoptimizedaerodynamicpropertiesforcoolingandisabletorestructureitselfasaprotectionagainststrongwinds.Thebionicmodels,whichwereconstructedandbuilt,areanalyzedanddiscussed.
