OlympicpreparationinfullswingJiangXiaoyu,vicepresidentofthe2008OlympicsOrganizingCommittee,announcedtheBeijingGamespreparationhadbeenintofullswingsinceJune2003.DesignchosenforswimmingcenterASino-AustralianjointplanwaschosenasthedesignfortheNationalSwimmingCenter,amajorvenueforthe2008BeijingOlympicGames.Sydney-basedPTWArchitectsandengineeringcompanyOveArupPty.Ltd.designedthe17,000-seatstadiumwithChinaStateConstructionEngineeringCorps.
