Aterahertzmetamaterialsensoradoptingthemetamaterial-basedelectromagneticallyinducedtransparency(EIT)effectispresentedfordeterminingthe1,4-dioxaneconcentrationinitsaqueoussolution.Themetamaterialsensor,whichconsistsofanEITelementunitwithacut-wiremetallicresonatorandtwosplit-ringmetallicresonatorsfabricatedona490-μmthicksiliconsubstrate,operatesinatransmissiongeometry.TheEITpeakwasred-shiftedanddecreasedwiththeincreaseofthewatervolume.Amaximumredshiftabout54GHzoftheEITpeakwasdetectedbetweenthe1,4-dioxaneandwater.ThepresentedlinearbehaviorandhighsensitivityoftheEITpeakdependingonthewaterconcentrationpaveanovelavenueforsensorapplications.
