Production of micro-cuttings from acorns to test the plasticity of response to contrasting soil water regimes

摘要 WecollectedacornsfromselectedQuercusroburandQuercuspetraeamothertreesgrowingatstationswithdifferentdepthstothewatertable.Weproducedpairsofmicro-cuttingsfromthesesingleacorns.Theobtainedpairsofcuttingsrepresentedphenotypesofhighsimilarityaccordingtophotosyntheticparameters.Thesepairsofcuttingswereusedtotesttheplasticityofresponsetocontrastingwaterregimes.Foreachpair,onecuttingwassubmittedtodroughtandtheotherwassubmittedtowaterlogging.Droughtresponsewasrecordedaccordingtogasexchangetraits(stomatalclosureandwateruseefficiency).TheresponsetowaterloggingwasrecordedaccordingtothecapacitytoformhypertrophiedlenticelsandtomaintaintheCO2assimilationrate.Intermediaryphenotypespresentingbothhighwateruseefficiencyandthecapacitytodevelophypertrophiedlenticelswereexpected.
