Accordingtotherelevanthistoricaldocuments,GuruChosdbangisacontroversialfigure.HeisconsideredoneofthefiveprominentgTer-ston(treasurediscoverers)inseveralchroniclesofNyingmatradition,however,BustonRinchengrubclaimsinhiscommentsonmantrapracticeinTibetthatGuruChosdbangofferedpervertedteachingsandfabricatedfalsetreasures.Thisisatopicofextremeinterestingtomanyresearchers,andthereareseveralofworksofEnglishscholarshipincludingJanetGyatso'sworkonGuruChosdbang'sautobiographyanalyzingitsnarrativemethods.Thereisstillmoreremainingtofigureout.
