Inductivelycoupledplasmaatomicemissionspectroscopy(ICP-AES),pioneeredbyVAFasselandSGreenfieldwiththeinspirationfromReed,isoneofthemostexcitingdevelopmentsinanalyticalinstrumentationsince1960’s.Itcandetermineabout70elementsontheperiodictablewithbetterprecisionandequalorbettersensitivitythanthatobtainedwithflameatomicabsorptionspectrometry(FAAS).Inaddition,certain"difficult"elementsforFAAS,suchasAl,B,C,P,SandTi,etc.,canbeeasilydeterminedbyICP.TheICPisnotonlyaveryusefulexcitatiomsourceforAES,butalsoaveryusefulsourceforatomizationinatomicfluorescencespectrometry(AFS)andforionizationinatomicmassspectrometry(MS).Thislecturedeals
