摘要
Cardiologistswhoseepatientsonageneralcardiologyservicearebeginningtoseeanincreasingnumberofpatientswhohavereceivedaprimarypreventionimplantablecardiacdefibrillator(ICD)buthaveneverhaditfire.ThereareadditionallyanumberofpatientswhohaveinappropriatefiringofICDs.Inappropriateshocksoccurinupto40%ofpatientswithanICD.Themaincauseissupraventriculartachyarrhythmia,includingsinustachycardia,atrialfibrillation,andotherrapidsupraventriculararrhythmias.
