摘要
Coronaryarterydisease(CAD)istheleadingcauseofdeathworldwide,butbecauseofseveralfactors,oneofwhichisantiplatelettherapy,themortalityrateshavesteadilydeclined.However,womencontinuetoexperiencehigherCADmortalityratesthanmen.Thismaybeexplainedbydifferencesincomorbidities,increasedtimetopresentation,higherbleedingrates,anddifferencesinmanagement.Therearenumerouslandmarktrialsinthefieldofantiplatelettherapy;however,womenareconsistentlyunderrepresentedinthesetrials.Theresultsofthesetrialsrevealthatwomenexperiencethesamebenefitasmenfromantiplatelettherapybutexperiencehigherbleedingrates;thereforebleeding-reductionstrategiesareimperativeinthispatientpopulation.ThisreviewprovidesanoverviewoftheavailableevidenceonCADinwomenanditsimplicationsforantiplateletmedications.
