Schroedingeroperatorisacentralsubjectinthemathematicalstudyofquantummechanics.ConsidertheSchrSdingeroperatorH=-Δ+VonR,whereΔ=d^2/dx^2andthepotentialfunctionVisrealvalued.InFourieranalysis,itiswell-knownthatasquareintegrablefunctionadmitsanexpansionwithexponentialsaseigenfunctionsof-Δ.AnaturalconjectureisthatanL^2functionadmitsasimilarexpansionintermsof"eigenfunctions"ofH,aperturbationoftheLaplacian(see[7],Ch.XIandthenotes),undercertainconditiononV.
