摘要
Thispaperinvestigatestheswimmingperformanceoffishundulatorymotionwhichisthebasicforminlocomotionofaquaticalanimalfromahydrodynamicspointofview.Inparticular,thepropulsivecharacteristicsisdiscussed.Thethree-dimensionalpotentialflowoveramodelrectangularflexibleplateperformingthemotionwhichconsistsofaprogressivewaveofagivenwavelengthandphasevelocityalongthechordistreated.Vortexringmethodisusedtocalculatethethrust,thepowerrequiredandthehydrodynamicpropulsiveefficiency,etc.Thedependenceoftheseenergeticsoncertainphysicalparameters,suchastheaspectratio,thereducedfrequencyandthewavenumber,isdiscussed.Itisfoundthatasthewavetengthgetsclosetothebodylength,propulsiveperformanceisnolongersensitivetotheaspectratio.Somequalitativeexplanationofthefishswimmingphenomenaisalsogiven.
