简介:Theultrafastchargedynamicsfollowingtheinteractionofanultra-intenselaserpulsewithafoiltargetleadstothelaunchofanultra-short,intenseelectromagnetic(EM)pulsealongawireconnectedtothetarget.Duetothestrongelectricfield(oftheorderofGVm^-1)associatedtosuchlaser-drivenEMpulses,thesecanbeexploitedinatravelling-wavehelicalgeometryforcontrollingandoptimizingtheparametersoflaseracceleratedprotonbeams.ThepropagationoftheEMpulsealongahelicalpathwasstudiedbyemployingaprotonprobingtechnique.Thepulse-carryingcoilwasprobedalongtwoorthogonaldirections,transverseandparalleltothecoilaxis.Thetemporalprofileofthepulseobtainedfromthetransverseprobingofthecoilisinagreementwiththepreviousmeasurementsobtainedinaplanargeometry.Thedataobtainedfromthelongitudinalprobingofthecoilshowsaclearevidenceofanenergydependentreductionoftheprotonbeamdivergence,whichunderpinsthemechanismbehindselectiveguidingoflaser-drivenionsbythehelicalcoiltargets.

简介:Beamhalo-chaosinhigh-currentacceleratorshasbecomeakeyconcernedissuebecauseitcancauseexcessiveradioactivityfromtheacceleratorsthereforesignificantlylimitstheirapplicationsinindustry,medicine,andnationaldefense.Somegeneralengineeringmethodsforchaoscontrolhavebeendevelopedinrecentyears,buttheygenerallyareunsuccessfulforbeamhalo-chaossuppressionduetomanytechnicalconstraints.Beamhalo-chaosisessentiallyaspatiotemporalchaoticmotionwithinahighpowerprotonaccelerator.Inthispaper,someefficientnonlinearcontrolmethods,includingwaveletfunctionfeedbackcontrolasaspecialnonlinearcontrolmethod,areproposedforcontrollingbeamhalo-chaosunderfivekindsoftheinitialprotonbeamdistributions(i.e.,Kapchinsky-Vladimirsky,fullGauss,3-sigmaGauss,water-bag,andparaboladistributions)respectively.Particles-in-cellsimulationsshowthataftercontrolofbeamhalo-chaos,thebeamhalostrengthfactorisreducedtozero,andotherstatisticalphysicalquantitiesofbeamhalo-chaosaredoublyreduced.Themethodswedevelopedisveryeffectiveforsuppressionofprotonbeamhalo-chaosinaperiodicfocusingchannelofaccelerator.Somepotentialapplicationofthebeamhalo-chaoscontrolinexperimentsisfinallypointedout.

简介:Opticalvorticesarestructuresoftheelectromagneticcarryingorbitalangularmomentum(OAM).Recently,high-orderharmonicgeneration(HHG),leadingtothefieldwithaspiralphaserampaboutapoint-phasesingularity,OAMhasbeenimprintedtoshort-wavelengthradiationthroughemissionofattosecondtwistedbeamsintheextreme-ultraviolet(XUV)regime.Weexplorethedetailsofthemappingofthedrivingvortextoitsharmonicspectrum.Inparticular,weshowthatthegeometryoftheharmonicvorticesisconvoluted,arisingfromthesuperpositionofthecontributionfromtheshortandlongquantumpathsresponsibleofHHG.Finally,weshowhowtotakeadvantageoftransversephase-matchingtoselecttwistedattosecondbeamswithdifferentspatiotemporalproperties.

简介:Thispaperpresentsapressureobserverbasedadaptiverobustcontroller(POARC)forposturetrajectorytrackingofaparallelmanipulatordrivenbythreepneumaticmuscleswithoutpressuresensors.Duetomodelerrorsofthestaticforcesandfrictionforcesofpneumaticmuscles,simplifiedaverageflowratecharacteristicsofvalves,unknowndisturbancesofentiresystem,andunmeasuredpressures,thereexistrathersevereparametricuncertainties,nonlinearuncertaintiesanddynamicuncertaintiesinmodelingoftheparallelmanipulator.Anonlinearpressureobserverisconstructedtoestimateunknownpressuresonthebasisofasingle-input-single-output(SISO)decouplingmodelthatissimplifiedfromtheactualmultiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO)couplingmodeloftheparallelmanipulator.Then,anadaptiverobustcontrollerintegratedwiththepressureobserverisdevelopedtoaccomplishhighprecisionposturetrajectorytrackingoftheparallelmanipulator.TheexperimentalresultsindicatethatthesystemwiththeproposedPOARCnotonlyachievesgoodcontrolaccuracyandsmoothmovementbutalsomaintainsrobustnesstodisturbances.
