摘要
Ithasbeenlongtimeestablishedthatapplicationofdamagedelocalizationmethodtosofteningconstitutivemodelsyieldsnumericalresultsthatareindependentofthesizeofthefiniteelement.However,thepredictionofreal-worldlargeandsmallscaleproblemsusingthedelocalizationmethodremainsinitsinfancy.Oneofthedrawbacksencounteredisthatthepredictedloadversusdisplacementcurvesuddenlydrops,asaresultofexcessivesmoothingofthedamage.Thepresentpaperstudiesthisunwantedeffectforadelocalizedplasticity/damagemodelformetallicmaterials.Weusesometheoreticalargumentstoexplainthefailureofthedelocalizedmodelconsidered,followingwhichasimpleremedyisproposedtodealwithit.Futureworksinvolvethenumericalimplementationofthenewversionofthedelocalizedmodelinordertoassessitsabilitytoreproducereal-worldproblems.
