InthispaperwediscusstheconvergenceofamodifiedNewton’smethodpresentedbyA.Ostrowski[1]andJ.F.Traub[2],whichhasquadraticconvergenceorderbutreducesoneevaluationofthederivativeateverytwostepscomparedwithNewton’smethod.Aconvergencetheoremisestablishedbyusingaweakconditiona≤3-2(21/2)andasharperrorestimateisgivenabouttheiterativesequence.
