China'surbanpopulationexceededruralpopulationforthefirsttimeinChinesehistory,reaching51.27%in2011.However,thelevelofurbanizationhasbeenexaggerated.Ifdeductingthelandlesspeasantsunderforcedurbanizationandmigrantworkersbeingnottreatedequallyinthecities,China'sactualurbanizationlevelstoodat41.6%.Therearechallengesahead.Forexample,anurbansocialvaluesystemhasnotbeenestablishedinoursociety;wedon'thaveaclearunderstandingoftheroleofcitiesandhowtodevelopacity;urbanmanagementhasnotpreparedwellforurbanizationdevelopment;andthereisalongwaytogoinachievingequaltreatmentforalloftheUrbanresidents.Tocopewiththechallengesofurbanization,weneedtoimprovethequalityofurbanization,correctlyunderstandtheroleofurbanizationanditssubstance,followthelawoftheurbandevelopment,andtoexplorebuildingofanurbanculturesystem.
