Netemissioncoefficientsofradiationwerecalculatedforisothermalplasmaofmethaneasafunctionoftheplasmatemperature5,000~30,000Kandthearcradius0mmto10mmatatmosphericpressure.Calculationstakeintoaccountcontinuumandlineradiations,specialattentionhasalsobeengiventotheinfluenceofoverlappingspectrallines.ThelineshapesinourcalculationsaregivenbyconvolutionofDopplerandLorentzprofiles,resultinginasimplifiedVoigtprofile.Inthecaseofahydrogenprofile,weusedtheVidaltables,andthefourfirstLymanlinesandthefourfirstBalmerlineswereconsidered.Thiscalculationwascarriedoutontheassumptionoflocalthermodynamicequilibriumandinanondiffusiveenvironment.ThenetemissioncoefficientcalculationforpureargonplasmawascomparedwiththeexperimentalresultsofEvansinourpreviouswork.Weusedtheescapefactor,andourresultswerehigherthanthoseoftheexperiment.Inthispaper,weexplainwhy,usingtheescapefactor,theradiationisoverestimated.ThenetemissioncoefficientobtainedfromarealspectrumwascomparedwithEssoltaniwork’swhichusedtheline-by-linemethodforpureargonplasma.
