1SURVEYOFGLOBALSEISMICITYIN2013Atotalof23strongearthquakeswithMS≥7.0occurredin2013throughouttheworldaccordingtotheChinaSeismicNetwork(Table1).ThestrongestearthquakewasintheSeaofOkhotsk,measuringMS8.2onMay24(Fig.1).Earthquakesoccurredmainlyinthewesternpartofthecircum-Pacificseismicbelt.Comparedwiththeseismicityin2012,thefrequencyincreasedsignificantlyandtheenergyreleaseofearthquakeswasobviouslylow.FeaturesofglobalseismicityofMS≥7.0areasfollows:
