ThebasaltterrainoftheNeogeneHuangguoshanand.GuiwuFormationsofeasternAnhuiontheeastsideoftheTancheng-LujiangfaultbeltisoneofafewCenozoicbasaltterrainsineasternChinaforwhichdetailedgeochemicalstudyhasnotbeenconducted.Thispaperreportstheabundancesofmajorelementsandmorethan20traceelements(includingREE)of22samplesandtheNd,SrandPbisotopiccompositionsof11samplesfromtheeasternAnhuibasaltterrain,thusmoreorlesssystematicallyrevealingthegeochemicalcharacteristicsofthiscontinentalbasaltsuite.Thepaperdiscussestheoriginofthebasaltsuiteandthecharacterandprocessofitsmantlesource.ThebasaltsuitewasderivedfromaheterogeneouscontinentallithosphericmantlewithendmemberscharacteristicoftheEMI-typeoceanicbasaltmantle,whichwasaffectedbymantlemetasomatism(orenrichmentoftraceelements)andwascharacterizedbyamulti-stageevolutionunderopenconditions.
