Thehigh-densitypopulationleadstocrowdedcities.Thefuturecityisenvisagedtoencompassalarge-scalenetworkwithperseapplicationsandamassivenumberofinterconnectedheterogeneouswireless-enableddevices.Hence,greentechnologyelementsarecrucialtodesignsustainableandfuture-proofnetworkarchitectures.Theyarethesolutionsforspectrumscarcity,highlatency,interference,energyefficiency,andscalabilitythatoccurindenseandheterogeneouswirelessnetworksespeciallyinthehomeareanetwork(HAN).Radio-over-fiber(ROF)isatechnologycandidatetoprovideaglobalviewofHAN’sactivitiesthatcanbeleveragedtoallocateorthogonalchannelcommunicationsforenablingwireless-enabledHANdevicestransmission,withconsideringtheclustered-frequency-reuseapproach.Ourproposednetworkarchitecturedesignismainlyfocusedonenhancingthenetworkthroughputandreducingtheaveragenetworkcommunicationslatencybyproposingadataaggregationunit(DAU).TheperformanceshowsthatwiththeDAU,theaveragenetworkcommunicationslatencyreducessignificantlywhilethenetworkthroughputisenhanced,comparedwiththeexistingROFarchitecturewithouttheDAU.
