BambooforestisanimportantlanduseinthetraditionalvillageofPenglipuran,BaliIndonesia.BamboogrowingintheruralareascanbeagoodchoiceforcapturingCO2.Iharvestedselectedculmstodeterminebiomasscontent,and50%ofdryweightbiomasswascalculatedascarboncontent.ThePenglipuranbambooforestsupportedsixbamboospeciesinaonehectaresamplingplot,allofthegenusGigantochloa.Theclumpandculmdensitieswere339and7190ha-1,respectively.Totalabove-plusbelow-groundbiomasswas87.35Mgha-1,andcarbonstoragewas43.67Mgha-1.CarbonstorageestimatedinthebambooforestatPenglipuranoffersinsightintotheopportunityforPES(paymentforecosystemservices)throughemissiontradingmechanisms.
