FormorethanoneyeartheCLEOⅢexperimentattheCornellelectronpositronstorageringCESRhasaccumulatedPhysicsdatausinga4layersiliconvertexdetectorandanovelringimageCherenkovdetector,alongwithaconventionalDriftchamber,E.M.calorimeterandmuonchambers.BythetimeofCHEP2001theexperimenthasaccumulated10fb^-1ofdata,Thereadoutandmonitoringsystemscontrol,ca.400000electronicchannels.Detectorconfiguration.dataqualityandcomponentmonitoring,runcontrolareonlysomeoftheSlowControltasksthathavetobeperformed.DeployingindustrystandardssuchasCORBA(inter-platformcommunication)Java(remoteaccessviaWebbrowser)andObjectivity(eventandconstantsdatabse)asbuildingblocksofthecomputernetworkhasbeenofcentralimportance.Objectorienteddesignhasenabledtheseamlessintegrationofthemanyinpidualcomponents.Inourpresentationwewilldescribeexperienceswiththisdistributedcontrolsystemandgiveareportofthemeasurestakentoobtainahighsystemavailability.
