Objective:Tounderstandfemalebarbers''currentawarenessofSTD/AIDSandevaluatetheeffectofhealtheducationandbehavioralinterventions.Methods:53barbershopsinShenzhenwereselectedbysampling,andtheir382femalebarbersweregivenabase-linesurveyandassessmentofinterventionfollowingtheintervention.Results:ThesurveyshowedthatfemalebarbersgenerallyhavelittleeducationandknewlittleaboutSTDs/AIDS.TheyalsohadsomemisunderstandingaboutSTDs/AIDS.MostofthemknewthemaintransmissionofSTDs/AIDS''throughsexualcontact,butdidn''tknowwhetherAIDScouldbetransmittedthroughcasualcontactindailylife.TheirknowledgeofSTDs/AIDSwaslimited,buttheyhadlowercondomuseratesandcorrectideasaboutwhentoseethedoctor.Conclusion:HealtheducationandbehavioralinterventionrelatedtoSTD/AIDSonspecialpopulationwereeffectiveandofgoodsocialconsequence.
