onAmericanculture.Myarticle’smainobjectiveistoanalyzehowdoesDreiser’sNaturalisticstylebeexposedthroughthecharacterCarrieMeeberinSisterCarrie.
SisterCarrietellsthestoryoftwocharacters:CarrieMeeber,anordinarygirlwhorises
fromalow-paidwageearnertoahigh-paidactress,andGeorgeHurstwood,amemberoftheuppermiddleclasswhofallsfrom
hiscomfortablelifestyletoalifeonthestreets.NeitherCarrienorHurstwoodearntheir
fatesthroughvirtueorvice,butratherthroughrandomcircumstance.Theirsuccesses
