Throughtheinvestigationontraditionalarcstudweldingprocess,anewweldinggunanditscontrolsystemweredevelopedinthispaper.Thesteppingarcstudweldinggunwasmainlymadebyasteppingmotorasactuatingunitandascrew-drivendeviceasmovingunit.AcontrolsystemwithaMCS-51single-chipmicrocomputerasmaincontrolcomponentwasusedtorealizethenewstudweldingprocedure.Thisnewweldingprocesswithsteppingstudweldinggunisnamedassteppingarcstudwelding.Inthenewweldingprocess,thestudactioncanbelookedasconstitutedbysomemicrosteps.Thesettingandadjustingofthesteppingarcweldinggunbehaviorparametersareaccomplishedindependently.Itisindicatedfromtheresultsofprocesstestsandbendingtestthatthesteppingarcstudweldingprocessispracticable.
