Thispaperfocusesoninvestigatingimmunologicalprinciplesindesigningamulti-agentsecurityarchitectureforintrusiondetectionandresponseinmobileadhocnetworks.Inthisapproach,theimmunity-basedagentsmonitorthesituationinthenetwork.Theseagentscantakeappropriateactionsaccordingtotheunderlyingsecuritypolicies.Specifically,theiractivitiesarecoordinatedinahierarchicalfashionwhilesensing,communicating,decisionandgeneratingresponses.Suchanagentcanlearnandadapttoitsenvironmentdynamicallyandcandetectbothknownandunknownintrusions.Theproposedintrusiondetectionarchitectureisdesignedtobeflexible,extendible,andadaptablethatcanperformreal-timemonitoring.Thispaperprovidestheconceptualviewandageneralframeworkoftheproposedsystem.Intheend,thearchitectureisillustratedbyanexampletoshowitcanpreventtheattackefficiently.
