Thisstudydiscussesthekeyfactorslimitingtherateofpulverizedcoalinjection(PCI)inblastfurnaces(BF),whilethepracticeandexperiencesofBaosteel'sBFproductionwithhighproductivityandlowfuelconsumptionarealsoanalyzed.AmethodologybasedontechnologicalanalysisforachievingareasonablePCIrateisproposed.ItisemphasizedthathighBFproductivityshouldberealizedatthemaximumboshgasindexbasedonahigherblasttemperatureandtheexcellentqualityofrawmaterials,aswellasahighblastvolumeandmeltingstrength.
