Heterogeneityofpermeabilityinfracturedmediaisahotresearchtopicinhydrogeology.Numerousapproacheshavebeenproposedtocharacterizeheterogeneityinthelastseveraldecades.However,littleattentionhasbeenpaidtocorrelatepermeabilityheterogeneitywithgeologicalinformation.Inthepresentstudy,severalcausesofpermeabilityheterogeneity,thatis,lithology,tectonism,anddepth,areidentified.Theunitabsorptionvalues(denotedasω),whichareresultsobtainedfromthepackertest,areemployedtorepresentpermeability.Thevariabilityofpermeabilityinsandstone-mudstoneissosignificantthatthevalueofunitabsorptionsspan3-4ordersofmagnitudeatanydepthwithseveraltestsections.Bydeclustering,ithasbeenfoundthatunderasimilartectonichistory,themeansofpermeabilitydiffergreatlyatdifferentformationsasaresultofdifferentmudrockcontents.Ithasalsobeenfoundthatinthesameformation,permeabilitycanbesignificantlyincreasedasaresultoffaulting.Thewell-knownphenomenon,thedecreaseinpermeabilitywithdepth,isfoundtobecausedbythefracturesintherockmass,andtherelationshipbetweenpermeabilityanddepthcanbeestablishedintheformoflogω-logd.Aftersubtractingthetrendofωwithabsolutedepth,themeanoftheresidualvalueateachrelativedepthcanbewellcorrelatedwiththedistributionofmudstone.Themethodsproposedinthispapercanbeutilizedtoresearchinsimilarstudyareas.
