简介:Westudyexperimentallyandtheoreticallytheplanardynamicsofpurelyrollingprismsonaroughramp,wheretherollingmotionisinterruptedintermittentlybyedgeimpacts.Theexperimentswerecarriedoutforprismsmadeofdifferentmaterialsandhavingdifferentgeometries.Wefoundthattheangularvelocitiesoftherollingprismsarematerial-independent,buttheychangesignificantlywiththeirgeometry.Wemodelledthedynamicsofedgeimpactsbyconsideringasocalleddetachmentfrontpropagatingacrossthecontactinterface.Thedetachmentfrontrepresentsthemovingboundarybetweenadetachedregionandastressregionthatcoexistwithintheinterfaceplane.Thetheoreticalanalysisindicatesthatthedetachmentfrontcanbecharacterizedbyascalenumber,whosevalueconvergesto0.4050forprismshavinglargenumberofedges.Anewjumpruleforedgeimpactsisthendeveloped,bywhichwecanaccuratelyreproducetheexperimentalobservations,andexplainwhythemotionoftheprismismaterial-independent.
简介:MostexistingapplicationsofcentroidalVoronoitessellations(CVTs)lackconsiderationofthelengthoftheclusterboundaries.Inthispaperweproposeanewmodelandalgorithmstoproducesegmentationswhichwouldminimizethetotalenergy—asumoftheclassicCVTenergyandtheweightedlengthofclusterboundaries.TodistinguishitwiththeclassicCVTs,wecallitanEdge-WeightedCVT(EWCVT).TheconceptofEWCVTisexpectedtobuildamathematicalbaseforallCVTrelateddataclassificationswithrequirementofsmoothnessoftheclusterboundaries.TheEWCVTmethodiseasyinimplementation,fastincomputation,andnaturalforanynumberofclusters.
