简介:Inthisreview,weadvanceanewconceptindevelopingvaccinesand/ordrugstotargetspecificproteinsexpressedduringtheearlystageofBacillusanthracis(anthrax)infectionandaddressexistingchallengestothisconcept.Threeproteins(immuneinhibitorA,GPR-likesporeprotease,andalanineracemase)initiallyidentifiedbyproteomicsinourlaboratorywerefoundtohavedifferentialexpressionsduringanthraxsporegerminationandearlyoutgrowth.Otherstudiesofdifferentbacillusstrainsindicatethatthesethreeproteinsareinvolvedineithergerminationorcytotoxicityofspores,suggestingthattheymayserveaspotentialtargetsforthedesignofanti-anthraxvaccinesanddrugs.
