  • 简介:ThePearlRiverEstuary(PRE)islocatedattheonshore-offshoretransitionzonebetweenSouthChinaandSouthChinaSeaBasin,anditisofgreatsignificantvalueindiscussingtectonicrelationshipsbetweenSouthChinablockandSouthChinaSeablockandseismicactivitiesalongtheoffshoreactivefaultsinPRE.However,theresearchesongeometriccharacteristicsofoffshorefaultsinthisareaareextremelylacking.ToinvestigatetheoffshorefaultdistributionandtheirgeometricfeaturesinthePREingreaterdetail,weacquiredthirteenseismicreflectionprofilesin2015.Combiningtheanalysisoftheseismicreflectionandfree-airgravityanomalydata,thispaperrevealedthelocation,continuity,andgeometryofthelittoralfaultzoneandotheroffshorefaultsinPRE.ThelittoralfaultzoneiscomposedofthemajorDanganIslandsfaultandseveralparallel,high-angle,normalfaults,whichmainlytrendnortheasttonortheast-to-eastanddiptothesoutheastwithlargedisplacements.Thefaultzoneisdividedintothreedifferentsegmentsbythenorthwest-trendingfaults.Moreover,thebasementdeptharoundDanganIslandsisveryshallow,whileitsuddenlyincreasesalongtheislandswestwardandsouthward.Thesehasresultedintheislandsandneighboringareasbecomingtheplaceswherethestressaccumulateseasily.Theseismogenicpatternofthisareaiscloselyrelatedtothecomprehensiveeffectofintersectingfaultstogetherwiththelowvelocitylayer.

  • 简介:Thedifference-ratiorelationsareintroducedtoseparatetidalconstituentsthatarealiasedduetothesamplingintervalandsamplingspanoftheTOPEX/POSEIDONaltimeter.ItisfoundthatsometidalconstituentssuchasK1andSSA,thoughaliasedatalongtrackpoints,arenotaliasedatcrossoverpointsbecausethedataatcrossoverpointsaredoublethoseatalongtrackpoints.Sotheharmonicanalysismethodcanbeemployeddirectlyfortheanalysisoftimeseriesatcrossoverpoints.Thenthedifference-ratiorelationsfromcrossoverpointsareintroducedtoanalyzethetimeseriesatalongtrackpoints.TheTOPEX/POSEIDONdataintheNorthwestPacificareanalyzedwiththismethod.Theresultsfromthismethodagreewellwithtidalconstantsfromtidalgauges.

  • 简介:Thestabilityofsubmarinegeologicalstructureshasacrucialinfluenceontheconstructionofoffshoreengineeringprojectsandtheexploitationofseabedresources.Marinegeologistsshouldpossessadetailedunderstandingofcommonsubmarinegeologicalhazards.Currentmarineseismicexplorationmethodsarebasedonthemosteffectivedetectiontechnologies.Therefore,currentresearchfocusesonimprovingtheresolutionandprecisionofshallowstratumstructuredetectionmethods.Inthisarticle,thefeasibilityofshallowseismicstructureimagingisassessedbybuildingacomplexmodel,anddifferencesbetweentheseismicinterferometryimagingmethodandthetraditionalimagingmethodarediscussed.Theimagingeffectofthemodelisbetterforshallowlayersthanfordeeplayersbecausecoherentnoiseproducedbythismethodcanresultinanunsatisfactoryimagingeffectfordeeplayers.Theseismicinterferencemethodhascertainadvantagesforgeologicalstructuralimagingofshallowsubmarinestrata,whichindicatescontinuoushorizontalevents,ahighresolution,aclearfault,andanobviousstructureboundary.TheeffectsoftheactualdataappliedtotheShenhuareacanfullyillustratetheadvantagesofthemethod.Thus,thismethodhasthepotentialtoprovidenewinsightsforshallowsubmarinestrataimaginginthearea.

  • 简介:Modalstrainenergybasedmethodsfordamagedetectionhavereceivedmuchattention.However,mostofpublishedarticlesusenumericalmethodsandsomestudiesconductmodaltestswithsimple1Dor2Dstructurestoverifythedamagedetectionalgorithms.Onlyafewstudiesutilizemodaltestingdatafrom3Dframestructures.Fewstudiesconductperformancecomparisonsbetweentwodifferentmodalstrainenergybasedmethods.Theobjectiveofthispaperistoinvestigateandcomparetheeffectivenessofatraditionalmodalstrainenergymethod(Stubbsindex)andarecentlydevelopedmodalstrainenergydecomposition(MSED)methodfordamagelocalization,forsuchapurposebothsimulatedandmeasureddatafromanoffshoreplatformmodelbeingused.Particularly,themodeshapesusedinthedamagelocalizationareidentifiedandsynthesizedfromonlytwomeasurementsofonedamagescenariobecauseofthelimitednumberofsensors.Thetwomethodswerefirstbrieflyreviewed.Next,usinga3Doffshoreplatformmodel,thedamagedetectionalgorithmswereimplementedwithdifferentlevelsofdamageseveritiesforbothsingledamageandmultipledamagecases.Finally,aphysicalmodelofanoffshoresteelplatformwasconstructedformodaltestingandforvalidatingtheapplicability.ResultsindicatethattheMSEDmethodoutperformstheStubbsindexmethodforstructuraldamagedetection.

  • 简介:Environmentalloadistheprimaryfactorinthedesignofoffshoreengineeringstructuresandoceancurrentistheprincipalenvironmentalloadthatcausesunderwaterstructuralfailure.Incomputationalanalysis,thecalculationofcurrentloadismainlybasedonthecurrentprofile.Thecurrentprofilemodel,whichisbasedonastructuralfailurecriterion,isconducivetodecreasingtheuncertaintyofthecurrentload.Inthisstudy,weusedprototypemonitoringdataandtheempiricalorthogonalfunction(EOF)methodtoinvestigatethecurrentprofileintheSouthChinaSeaanditscorrelationwiththedesignofunderwaterstructuralstrengthandthedynamicdesignoffatigue.Theunderwaterstructuralstrengthdesigntakesintoaccountthesizeofthestructureandtheservicewaterdepth.Weproposeprofilesfortheoverallandlocaldesignsusingtheinversefirst-orderreliabilitymethod(IFORM).Weextractedthecharacteristicprofilecurrent(CPC)ofthemonitoredseaareatosolvedynamicdesignproblemssuchasvortex-inducedvibration(VIV).WeusedrandomsamplingtoverifythefeasibilityofusingtheEOFmethodtocalculatetheCPCfromthecurrentdataandidentifiedthemainproblemsassociatedwithusingtheCPC,whichdeservecloseattentioninVIVdesign.Ourresearchconclusionsprovidedirectreferencesfordeterminingcurrentloadinthisseaarea.Thisanalysismethodcanalsobeusedintheanalysisofotherseaareasorfieldvariables.

  • 简介:Newsatellite-derivedlatentandsensibleheatfluxesareperformedbyusingWindSatwindspeed,WindSatseasurfacetemperature,theEuropeanCentreforMedium-rangeWeatherForecasting(ECMWF)airhumidity,andECMWFairtemperaturefrom2004to2014.The55mooredbuoysareusedtovalidatethembyusingthe30minand25kmcollocationwindow.Furthermore,theobjectivelyanalyzedair-seaheatfluxes(OAFlux)productsandtheNationalCentersforEnvironmentalPrediction-NationalCenterforAtmosphericResearchreanalysis2(NCEP2)productsarealsousedforglobalcomparisons.ThemeanbiasesofsensibleandlatentheatfluxesbetweenWindSatfluxresultsandbuoyfluxdataare–0.39and–8.09W/m~2,respectively.Inaddition,therootmean-square(RMS)errorsofthesensibleandlatentheatfluxesbetweenthemare5.53and24.69W/m~2,respectively.TheRMSerrorsofsensibleandlatentheatfluxesareobservedtograduallyincreasewithanincreasingbuoywindspeed.Thedifferenceshowsdifferentcharacteristicswithanincreasingseasurfacetemperature,airhumidity,andairtemperature.ThezonalaveragelatentfluxeshavesomehighregionswhicharemainlylocatedinthetradewindzoneswherestrongwindscarrydryairinJanuary,andthemaximumvaluecentersarefoundintheeasternwatersofJapanandontheUSeastcoast.Overall,theseasonalvariabilityispronouncedintheIndianOcean,thePacificOcean,andtheAtlanticOcean.Thethreesensibleandlatentheatfluxeshavesimilarlatitudinaldependencies;however,somedifferencesarefoundinsomelocalregions.

  • 简介:ThestudyprovidesoneofthefirstlinesofevidenceshowinglinkagesbetweenAntarcticphytoplanktonabundanceandcompositioninresponsetoENSO,basedonhistoricalreconstructionofsedimentbiomarkers.Inadditiontosedimentbiomarkers,fieldmeasuredandremotesensingdataofphytoplanktonabundancewerealsorecordedfromPrydzBay,EasternAntarctica.CommunitystructureoffieldmeasuredphytoplanktonshowedsignificantElNino/LaNina-relatedsuccessionduring1990to2002.Ingeneral,thenumberofalgaespeciesdecreasedduringElNinoandLaNinayearscomparedtonormalyears.Australsummermonthlyvariationofremotelysensedchlorophyll-a(Chl-a),particulateorganiccarbon(POC),andseasurfacetemperature(SST)indicatedthatENSOimpactedthetimingofphytoplanktonbloomsduring2007to2011.Phytoplanktonblooms(indicatedbyChl-aandPOC)precededtheincreasesinSSTduringElNinoyears,andlaggedbehindtheSSTincreasesduringLaNinayears.Stratigraphicrecordofmarinesedimentarylipid(brassicasterol,dinosterolandalkenones)biomarkersinferredthattheproportionsofdifferentalgae(diatoms,dinoflagellatesandhaptophytes)changedsignificantlybetweenElNinoandLaNinaevents.Therelativeproportionofdiatomsincreased,withthatofdinoflagellatesbeingdecreasedduringElNinoyears,whileitwasreversedduringLaNinayears.
